Congratulations Vicki. That's just great. Happy for you. I will read it eventually. I have a ton of books I have to read first sitting here looking at me. I'm getting through them.
When I got your new book, I was halfway through reading ART'S BLOOD. For the first time in my life I set aside a half finished book to start another one...
I see only one thing wrong with THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS: it's around 100,000 words and I wanted 200,000!
LOVED LOVED LOVED this book, I think it is my favorite so far... great characters, great story. A friend gave me an autographed copy for my belated birthday, and it was well worth the wait!
This Ky girl loved every word you wrote. It was like going back in time and hearing my grandmother talk again! Your writting has touched my heart. It was a lovely book! Thank you so much. After reading your blogs I must say you are one busy woman. Please keep it up cant wait for the next one!
Hi, Mona, So glad you enjoyed Birdie's story! Thank you for the kind words -- you don't have long to wait for the next one -- UNDER THE SKIN will be out Oct. 18!
I'm the author of the forthcoming AND THE CROWS TOOK THEIR EYES, a historical novel based on a real event that took place in the county where i live during the Civil War. I'm the author, too, of The Elizabeth Goodweather Appalachian Mysteries, a series beginning with SIGNS IN THE BLOOD. There's also THE DAY OF SMALL THINGS chronicling the unexpected life story of Miss Birdie, one of Elizabeth's neighbors.
I came to this weird business late (my first novel was published in 2005) and am still trying to figure it out.
As my novels are set in a place much like my real life home, I thought I'd use this blog to share pictures of our farm and county. I've been blogging for nearly thirteen years now, on an almost daily basis, and the topics have ranged from writing, chickens, food, books, quilts, flora and fauna of all sorts, to the occasional tiny rant. And now that I have a granddaughter there's a fair amount about her. There's no plan, but there are lots of pictures.
